Við Hafið means “by the sea”, and it’s literal: the building sits on Ólafsbraut, Ólafsvík’s main street, with the coast right across the road. It’s a two-storey guest house with six types of private room, a shared kitchen and dining room with picture windows facing the sea, a lounge with TV and its own parking. The village church is 600 m away, and there are three places to eat less than 300 m away.
Guests who have stayed rate it 8.5 “Very good” from 1,435 reviews: staff 9.1, location 9.1 and cleanliness 9.0. It’s a comfortable base for exploring the peninsula: the Svöðufoss waterfall is 6 km away, Snæfellsjökull National Park 10 km and Kirkjufell 23 km. The double for two starts at around €149 a night.

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula sums up Iceland: a glacier, volcanoes, black beaches and cliffs. Road distances from the property.

Average maximum temperature and the lowest price per night (double room for two, one night, checked on 19 September 2026).
The most expensive month is July (around 209 € a night), and the cheapest is October (around 149 €: 29 % less). Months with no bar have no rate loaded yet: the hotel may not have opened sales or released availability for those dates.
A month marked “·” means that, on the weekdays we checked, there were no individual rooms for sale. From 21 December and right through January the property is currently offering only the whole building (an 8-bedroom apartment, around 2,000 € a night). It doesn’t mean it’s closed: it’s worth looking again later on, because new rates may be loaded for those dates.
June and July are the Icelandic summer: almost 21 hours of daylight and the highest rates of the year. From November to March the days are short, it snows and it’s northern lights season; storms can close the peninsula’s roads, so it’s worth checking road conditions before heading out.
All with the same booking.
Almost essential: the peninsula is best explored by car, and the best spots are 20-40 km away.

Kitchen - spacious dining area, very well equipped and with sea views. Modern facilities and very clean.
Everything, but especially how we were treated. We asked to move our stay earlier because of the storm, they were super kind and sorted it out with no problems at all. The rooms had spectacular views.
It was comfortable, and the kitchen had everything.
How friendly the host was. How clean everything was. Being able to see the northern lights from the guesthouse door.
Clean, comfortable, well equipped.
Everything was perfect. They have a washer, dryer, dishwasher… very quiet and comfortable. 100% recommended.
We’d rather tell you now than have you find out when you arrive. Everything here comes from real reviews and the property’s house rules.
Five of the six room types share the hallway bathrooms (“clean, spacious and enough of them,” says one guest). The only one with its own bathroom is the quadruple with private bathroom.
You come in via about 18 outdoor steps, and the upper floors are stairs-only: hard going in the rain with big suitcases. The room with a private bathroom is outside the main building.
It’s spacious, but with the house full “everything was missing”, says a guest from September. There’s no restaurant or breakfast; restaurants are 200-300 m away.
Check-in from 17:00 to 20:30 (if you’re arriving after 21:00, let them know in advance); check-out by 11:00; quiet hours from 22:00 to 8:00. No pets allowed.
